One-Of-A-Kind Art Dolls Coming Soon

Art, that I have both collected and created over the years hints at my preoccupation with the human form. When I began purchasing Dolls in order to sculpt my Dogs proportionately for these collectors, I re-discovered how beautiful these wee people, from a melange of cultures, can be. With a bit of embarrassment, I admit that I had never thought of soft sculpture or doll sculpting as art forms. But, when my first doll arrived, I was completely inspired and knew that I had to create dolls of my own! For the past year I have been studying, researching, and experimenting in doll making and costuming.  I am most intrigued with Felt Dolls such as Edith, the lonely doll from Dare Wright's charming books from the 60's and by Maggie Iacono's exquisite work in this medium. While I DO intend to create dolls in felt, I have begun this journey using polymer clay as my medium.

As the Dogs and time permit, I look forward to pursuing this art further and hope to offer you beautiful, costumed, one of a kind, art dolls in a range of sizes, ages and ethnicities very soon.

Photo Description: My first sculpt, shown above, depicts a baby of about 3 mos. of age. She is a partial sculpt, having a soft body that allows her to be dressed and undressed and capable of a wide range of life-like infant postures. Crystal, my Collie, looks on, lovingly. At Crystal's side is her companion doll, "Randi". Randi is Helen Kish's 7 1/2" Riley doll, re-wigged and re-painted by myself. She is now a feisty, spunky little Tom-boy who has no trouble enjoying her more feminine side!
